This jam will be a blast for the Tri-State Area footbag scene, with a friendly get-together of circle kicking, freestyle, 4 square, and net. It will consist of anyone willing, from newbies to BAP, like Greg Nelson and Scott Bevier!
IMPROMPTU SICK 3 RESULTS: 1st: Brad Nelson (Blurry Whirl>Paradox Torque>Paradox Blender) 2nd: Greg Nelson (Paradox Drifter>Paradox Whirl>Paradox Torque) 3rd: Jake Milofsky (Ripwalk>Ducking Butterfly>PS Whirl) LAST MAN STANDING: -Scott Bevier Attendance to the jam could best be described as small but mighty in Saturday afternoon, as numbers only reached up to about 20. But the kickers that did come showed off most by besting the slight chill that came our way. The first three to show their stuff over the weekend were the West Virginia boys of PS3. All I can say is WOW!! John Mahood kept amazing me time after time because once i thought i saw everything he could hit, then he'd throw in some type of pixie duck that'd throw me back again. Bob Glasser came with his fairy set again, ducking and all. I think i saw him go for fairy torque, not sure if he hit it though. Then there is Brad Nelson, blazing p-whirl, blurry everything, and a midstring BIG APPLE to go with it. Mad props to him. Greg Nelson came and showed me some of the most amazing unusual surface shredding I've ever seen. Scott Bevier also stepped into the circles with his unstoppable strings. I wish i could say more about these 2 shredders but i couldn't even keep up with them. Last, that i had to congradulate was Jake Milofsky, because he has been skooling! Smooth shredding and all, then catching everyone off-guard with a super-clean PS whirl first try in competition. Among others that i didn't get to see too much of was Pat B throwing in a symposium quantum set that mad my jaw drop; and Ian Brill came with his atomic set and flyers. The Erie crew also joined in the fun and taught me how to play 4-square in my very first game. Overall I'd say the jam was a big success, everyone seemed to have fun and Greg Nelson even threw in a little something extra with a frisbee showing. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came and MAD PROPS to Bill Hamilton for putting the venue together!!!!
In an effort to get more footbag activity and to develop networking for footbag in the tri-state area, we have created this first time event. The event will be mostly freestyle and circle kicking. As an added activity we will have a 4 square court or two. The event will be held at Bear Run Campground www.bearruncampground.com which is a full facility campground. This is a unique event because the campground offers many activities besides footbag. This is a one-day event, but if you desire, you can camp out for the night or the weekend to see if an unofficial get-together can be set up in other areas on the later dates. You can use the web address for Bear Run Campground to make reservations for camping. This is definitely an event for the whole family or crew of friends (even non- kicking ones). Everyone will be able to find something fun to do at this event! One of the goals of the Tri-State Footbag Jam is to see if there is interest for events in this area and future events of a similar nature. To do this we need your feedback and will need to build a mailing list (email as much as possible) for promotion. If you cannot attend this event, but are interested in future events, please contact Caleb or Bill (info below) to be put on the mailing list. Remember, since we are under a roof, this event will be happening rain or shine! Mark your calendars, more info will be sent later. If you plan on attending this jam, please email us with an estimate of how many will be with you so we can start to get a count on attendees. Lace up your shoes and get ready for a jam to remember. -Cost will be $5 for campground access and use of the activity pavilion. *Contact us for directions if needed* Event contacts: Caleb Abraham, fuz30@yahoo.com, phone: (724) 869-5828 Bill Hamilton, hamilton@pulsenet.com, phone: (724) 229-7141 Since we have a limited mailing list for advertising this event, please forward this email to your friends. A good turn out for this event is dependent on your willingness to forward this announcement to others. Thanks for your help! Directions: *The easiest way to get to the campground is from I-79* -Simply follow I-79 until exit #96 Portersville/Prospect (old exit 28) turn onto this -Then, at the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto PA-488 -Next, Take a left at Badger Hill Rd. about 100 Ft away from your last turn (the sign Bear Run sign will guide you) -You have to follow this road for a good five minutes so wave at some horses on your way and look out for that Bear Run sign infront of the campgrounds (it's on the right) -Ask the people in the camp store where the activity pavilion is, or just bear right at the end of the parking lot, there's a small road that takes you there.
