The 2009 Green Cup Presented by Chaos was a great success! A record number of players participated, and a record number of spectators showed up on Championship Monday in Golden Gate Park. Special thanks and congratulations to our guest of honor, J.F. Lemieux, who won the open doubles AND open singles Net titles, and took second in the open mixed doubles Net event. Cheers to Montreal for sending a full crew of high-level players. Congratulations to Greg Lima for the multiple upsets in his run at the open singles title (he lost to JF in the final). Thanks also to Chris Ott for arranging and paying for a professional film crew, to Mrs. Williams (Brad's Mom) for taking thousands of high-quality photos, to Chaos staff and crew, and finally to all the players who traveled to the Bay Area and participated in one of the premiere Footbag Net tournaments in the world. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Doubles Net ------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Chaos is pleased to announce that the 2009 Green Cup Presented by Chaos will be held on Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This event is the second-largest footbag net tournament in the world -- and this year will be its biggest year yet, with players confirmed from at least four countries. We are pleased to honor two of the greatest players in the sport of footbag net: Florian Goetze and J.-F. Lemieux. This event is not to be missed!
For all our favorite freestylers out there -- we will also be offering a full suite of freestyle events, to be run concurrently with the net events on May 23-24 in Oakland. We'll have some of the top freestyle talent in North America in attendance, including David Clavens, Gordon Bevier, freestylers emeriti Peter Irish and Ryan Mulroney, and up-and-comers such as Jay Boychuk. Stanford Footbag Club will be running the freestyle competition.
The event site on Saturday and Sunday is in Oakland's Lakeside Park (alongside Lake Merritt) -- see map. This is where all net prelims and the entire freestyle competition will be held.
The final day, CHAMPIONSHIP MONDAY, will once again be held at Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Our center court will be surrounded by seating, shade structures, and a beer garden! We expect thousands of spectators throughout the day and promise that the action will not disappoint. Many thanks to our net sponsors Pro Kicker, Lagunitas Brewery, and Tommy's Mexican Restaurant!

http://www.footbag.org/registration/register?tid=1232474501
Online registration is now open through May 20th. Please register as soon as possible so we know who's coming.
Entry fee for all net players is $60 regardless of which events or how many events you enter. Net players also have access to the freestyle area and to compete in freestyle events if schedule permits, at no additional cost.
Freestyle-only entry fee is $35 for competitors, reduced to $25 for competitors who participate in the novice doubles net bracket.
There is a $20 fee for non-competitors who intend to play in the freestyle room on Saturday and Sunday. Please register and pay this fee online if you're coming to play -- you will be helping us offset the costs of our indoor venues.
Novice net players and non-player spectators are welcome to register at no cost, or to just show up any of the three days!
Late registration and check-in for net and freestyle starts at 9:30am on Saturday morning (May 23) at the prelim net site at Lakeside Park in Oakland, CA. For the exact location, see this map.
Please note: If you pre-pay your registration via PayPal using the online registration system, you may skip the line and do an "express check-in". This will greatly improve your tournament experience, and will help us out by sending us the money and giving us a more accurate headcount ahead of the event. Paying is easy if you have a PayPal account or a major credit card; note, we do have to charge a very small transaction fee to offset PayPal's fees.
Open singles, open doubles, open women's singles, open women's doubles, open mixed doubles, novice doubles (for freestylers and beginners).
